This is a great way to think about homesteading. We shouldn't be focused just on what we can get away from: chemicals, needless regulations, fear mongering, but our focus should be on how we can use the land God has given us to build something that will impact more than just ourselves. I love that you put that homesteading is a calling. It truly can be a calling to come back to God, come back to our neighbor and our community and to come back to the land.
We moved across country and I am just beginning a small homestead on 1 1/3 acre. This is overwhelming to do alone.
I currently have a mortgage and I’m struggling with a decision to pay it off or hold onto my finances. Certainly not an easy decision.
I also feel this property is too close to the town I live in, but moving again isn’t in the cards. I am now in my early 70’s and without family here. Only a few neighbors that are just acquaintances. I pray for guidance.
I was raised in this and I moved to a communist state that thinks everything is subject to the state. We're fortunate to live in a Constitutional sovereign county, but we don't know how long it will remain. We pray a lot, especially for guidance.
Love this article. I just wrote the start of a series I am working on at the end of Sept. It is titled Homesteading Believers - Under the Vine and Fig Tree. Scripture and especially the way the early disciples lived point to the way. I will follow along on your next publishing.
Thank you. I read this the day you published it nearly two weeks ago and God has continually been bringing it back to mine and my husband’s minds in this time of major transition for our farm.
Hello Amy, I'm having difficulty communicating with you about the subscription I had previously. It wasn't clear where to contact you about the issues I was having with it.
This also feels especially important as we are nearing age 70 and will eventually need help. God is faithful!

Yes and amen. Very insightful and true. Thank you for sharing, sister! 🔥
Looking forward to the blueprint as we have the beginnings of a good community….thank God.
Thank you for this!

Are you part of a local church body?
Amy, I’ve been to two churches since I’ve been here. Haven’t found my church yet.

I want to be a homesteader. Where would I even start?
